For those that don't know who Mitch Albom is, he's an on again, off again sports writer for the Detroit Free Press. He has a couple of books, Tuesdays with Morrie and the Five People you Meet in Heaven.
This month in Sports Illustrated he was given a few pages to be a voice for a lot of us in Michigan to tell the rest of the country how we feel. Not that I expect it to change anything, but it's nice to see someone stand up for the state in a national publication.
Warning, it's not short...

I passed my issue of SI to a bunch of readers but it was great they let the Freep post the article (interstingly with a bunch of different photos too). Mitch was one of the first people to get on the bandwagon to save the real Tiger Stadium way back when when we petitioned to have it designated a historical site. Mid 80's I believe when I worked on the petitions. I just wish he's can the smaltzy books.
One more warning would've been: don't forget the kleenex.
I don't like Mitch Albom at all, so I have a hard time reading anything he writes. The article is so full of negativity and doesn't address anything good that has happened in the city, much of which I've witnessed in the 9 years I've lived in the area. I could go on and on...instead I'll share this link that is a response to that article:
